We head back to the primary room! This takes less than 20 minutes! And we all have a general idea of the logistics of the primary program. But wait! Never fear! We continue to prep for the program from the primary room after a quick opening exercises. We start by coloring sacrament meeting program covers! This activity comes in REAL handy right about now! Check out details about my program covers HERE. Our primary has about 25 kids so they will each be coloring programs.
TIP: Have your primary counselors offer the opening and closing prayers. This is often the hardest part for putting together programs next to finding speakers. The program is all printed inside and out, ready to be colored then distributed come program day. And while the kids are busy coloring, play your program songs using the Gospel for Kids App on a phone and speaker. After coloring, if you have time, let every child come to the microphone and speak their part.
That will give you a general idea of how long the speaking parts will take. If you have any other primary program review ideas, tips or tricks leave a comment! If your primary could use a boost writing your primary program outline, make sure to read through my post HERE for some help. So now your primary program reviewing is finished! Singing time just got even easier! We are getting down to the nitty gritty of the primary program! If you need help putting together and writing a primary program outline, you have come to the right place!
My primary president asked if I had any ideas for a primary program. So I sent her a quick email with my suggestions. She liked what I sent her so I simply took it step further and put together an outline to share here.
Now, I know not every program outline will fit with every primary. Our primary has roughly kids so we have enough time for each child to speak a small part at the pulpit 2 sentences or less. The plan is to sing the first verse to the 2 hymns then have the congregation join in on the rest of the hymn verses. Then we will be singing all the verses to all the other primary songs listed. We learn the songs in singing time throughout the year with the goal to have words memorized.
But come program day, I always post the words. I prefer this method over creating little books for everyone to hold. I feel they end up becoming a distraction throughout the program.
Sometimes we have kids show up who rarely come to primary throughout the year. It also gives kids a boost who are shy and may forget the words once they are up singing. This primary program outline revolves around the songs we learned this year for the program. With my list of songs, I found a scripture from Doctrine and Covenants that I to associate with each song. The scriptures may or may not be read in sacrament meeting depending on time, etc. They can be read by a 2nd teacher of each class, or by the same teacher, or not at all.
If you have an older primary child, they can also read all the scriptures. Lots of options! But they are mainly to help families write talks using help from the scriptures if they like. I then created a statement to be answered by the primary children that coincides with each primary song. Each class was then assigned a statement that I thought would be the most age appropriate. Then I wrote a quick summary for each song. The teachers of each class will be reading these summaries before they help their class with their parts at the microphone:.
Joseph went to a grove of trees near his home to pray. He knelt down and asked Heavenly Father which church he should join. He looked up and saw God the Father and Jesus Christ.
Find the reference HERE. After Jesus Christ died and was resurrected, His Apostles died. The priesthood was lost from the earth. Then they could baptize others and bless them through the power of the priesthood. Jesus has promised that he will come again. We can prepare for the Second Coming by doing what is right. We will know that His coming is near when we see the signs He has promised. No one knows exactly when He will come again, but if we are prepared, we can be with Him then.
It is important that we learn to love each other. It is the second great commandment. Heavenly Father wants us to love every one of his children, just as he wants us to love each member of our own families. We can show love by helping others understand their eternal worth to Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ.
They can also sign their name…. Place baskets with pens, optional at the back of both doors of the chapel and members can place the filled out documents there as they leave the meeting. TIP: Ask the bishopric to announce how to use the cards before they turn the time over to the primary.
After the program, during singing time, pass out a treat my treat topper is coming soon!! Or better yet, ask the bishopric to come in and read the comments! Hearing what the congregation has to say about the program is a real highlight! Optionally, sing between comment cards. Scroll through all of my program helps HERE including tips for practicing in the chapel.
