Finally, when I confronted her in an email she did reply I swear I have wasted way too much time. I'd go to XP but I paid for vista and don't have drives. I had high hopes for MS helping me, thinking there are a million people in the same boat Really said, Vista Ultimate, yeah right. I did the work around for TMS chip, and enabled the bit encryption. The encryption set up a 2gb "S" drive and still the update won't take.
My pc now won't run outlook, won't update and best of all now both the DVD and CD drive are non functional. Error code 39, even when I try to find a driver it says no problem but yellow splat. I was trying to tell MS my drives crapped out when the update process started, but they don't read. Send me an email telling me to load the original disks. I reply no drive found and can't load drivers they just don't reply. So I filed a new problem report in hopes someone will be able to get me back on the road.

At first I have a single disk with Debian on. I was curious to try Vista. So I detached my disk and then I installed Vista Ultimate on onother alone disk. Vista boot right but I couldn't install the update KB Googling a bit I saw that the problem was related to Mbr.

So I related this problem to the update and I understood that Vista boot but wasn't be able to find his right position. I also installed the update by downloading manually, it finished without saying that it was rolling back the changes this time but I don't see the update listed on the updates installed list via the control panel, so I'm still not convinced that it's installed properly.
But it is what worked for me In my Windows Update logs it was still coming up with an error for BitLocker which makes sense as this update is for BitLocker , and I was still showing an error when I started up BitLocker that stated that I was missing critical files, so I assumed that if I could get Bitlocker working then the patch would work.
Friday, January 11, PM. Cheers all. I went thru the process of enabling BitLocker in the Group Policy editor however when it got to the point about using a USB key, I cancelled the installation.
Nonetheless, I was able to then receive and install the required pre-SP1 updates and then was able to install SP1. This is on a Dell Precision with Vista Ultimate x The updates I installed were the Windows Update downloads and not the manual download. Thanks for all your replies.
